Welcome to the University of Sheffield Library Information Skills Resource!
The Library is continually developing information skills tutorials, which aim to help you gain the information skills you need to complete your course successfully, and become an information literate Sheffield Graduate.
Navigating the site
All of the tutorials on this web site are only available to University of Sheffield students and staff - this means that if you are not on campus, you will be asked to log in with your University username and password to access the tutorials.
Use the tabs at the top of the screen to move between the different parts of the site.
The parts of the site you will need to use will depend on who you are. Move your mouse over the appropriate image to find out more.
As an undergraduate, you will need Information Skills tutorials for tutorials on skills which all students need, and Tutorials by Department for tutorials developed with your department to help you gain the information skills needed for your course.
If you are a postgraduate you will need to look at the Researchers tab which provides guidance and tutorials developed specifically to help research students. The Information Skills tutorials may also help you brush up on your basic skills.
If you are staff you will need to look at Information for staff where you will find guidance on how you can use the tutorials within your courses, and details of how we can help you to customise tutorials for your own department.
If you are a visitor you will need to look at the Showcase. This is an open area where you can see demonstration versions of some of our tutorials and quizzes, as well as papers and presentations on our materials.
